“There is ALWAYS something to be thankful for.”
What am I thankful for?
The holidays are approaching quickly and it’s a busy time of the year. This year especially for me. I am cooking my very first Thanksgiving for my family. I have to admit that I am really nervous. I’m not much of a cook (I never really had that big of an interest in learning while my grandma and momma cooked.) Now I wish I had been paying more attention while growing up because it’s all down to me.
With how busy I’ve been and how busy I’m going to be, I have found myself forgetting why we celebrate THANKSgiving. I forget that I’m supposed to be thankful. I’m not saying I act like a spoiled brat. Well I don’t act like one 100 percent of the time 😉 and while I am grateful for everything that I have, I don’t express it enough. I am very blessed when it comes to my family and friends because I know at the end of the day, no matter what I do, I have people who I can rely on.
I also have a really amazing job that I love going to everyday. Many people cannot say the same thing. I have a great boss who I respect, and honestly look at as family. She accepted me into her business and made me feel as if I am apart of my family and not very many businesses do that. I don’t know if she knows just how much I appreciate at her, but I know she will read this and I can say it is a lot. You have taught me so much and you listen and respect me. I haven’t had that anywhere else, so I thank you!
10 things I’m thankful for
- I have a God who loves me.
- I have family and a loving boyfriend who loves me.
- I have an amazing job and boss.
- I have friends who would do anything for me.
- I have a very very sweet fur baby. (Mittens)
- I have a roof over my head and a working vehicle.
- I have food in my fridge and cabinets.
- I have clothes on my back and in my closet.
- I am able to live my life free because of the men and women who served my country.
- I am healthy and happy
My list isn’t necessarily in that order, but I could go on and on about what I’m thankful for. I’m not guaranteed tomorrow so I’m thankful for today.
What are you thankful for?
Can you go grab a sheet of paper for a minute and a pen? We’re going to do a little test. Go ahead and number it 1 through 3. Answer these questions for me.
- What are you most thankful for?
- How do you show your gratitude?
- Can you improve?
We live in such a busy set life that we tend to forget what we are thankful for. It shouldn’t just fall down to ONE day a year to express how much your thankful for what you have. We should be saying thank you every single day. Whether you are a religious person or not, nobody is entitled to everything they have. We are blessed. We don’t deserve the things we have, but God (or whoever/whatever you may believe in) does wayyy too much for us and we don’t give enough thanks. I mean honestly how could we?
Let us remember.
We shouldn’t only show thanks on just one day. Whether we show it by doing something nice for someone who needs some extra help or just by stating our gratitude, we need to give thanks. If you think back to another post about love, we can shower people in love and gratitude. We have the ability to choose how we live our lives. Do you want to live your life self-center and all about you? Or would you rather have a happy heart and make someone’s day?
